The Bay State is known for several types of foods and seafood, of course, is a staple. One incredible food item that has made waves across New England is the fried clam which is said to have been invented in the state. While there are many places to get some incredible fried clams, we think that some of the best fried clams in Massachusetts can be found at the Green Harbor Lobster Pound.
It is said that fried clams were invented back in 1916 by Lawrence “Chubby” Woodman in Essex, Massachusetts. Mr. Woodman, of course, along with his wife, had founded Woodman’s of Essex back in 1914. While Woodman’s is the original place to get fried clams, there’s another place we think you should try.
