National parks are popular destinations, but you typically have to spend part of your vacation time driving to get there. When you want to spend more time on vacation and less time on travel, there is only one place to go: Grand Teton National Park. It’s the only national park that has a commercial airport inside its boundaries, saving you the drive to the park once you land. There’s nothing quite like flying in and landing parallel to the stunning Teton range! Oh, and while Yellowstone may get more attention, having an in-park airport makes Grand Teton the coolest national park to visit in Wyoming.

The official address for the Jackson Hole Aiport is 1250 East Airport Road, Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

However, the airport is actually located inside the Grand Teton National Park, a little over eight miles from the charming valley town of Jackson.

The airport got a humble start back in the 1930s, when it was only a dirt landing strip. Today, it’s a full-service commercial airport with four major airlines frequently flying in and out of the area. There are direct and connecting flights from most major cities all year long, with some services limited in the shoulder season and winter months.

Although it’s not an international airport, people from all over the world find it convenient to be able to fly into the Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole area.

Wyoming is known for its wildlife, and visitors flying in to the airport don’t always have to wait to see it. It’s not unusual to see a moose or an elk strolling across the landing strip or through the parking lot.

And if you don’t spot wildlife right at the airport, you’re likely to see some on the way to the hotel or driving farther into the park.

Flying into such a rural setting, you might be surprised at the size and even elegance of the airport itself.

Though it’s small, it offers a gift shop, small market, and a great little restaurant called Jedediah’s.

In addition to the major airlines, almost a dozen smaller airlines fly in and out of the Jackson Hole airport, and private jets are constantly coming and going, too.

Even if driving time isn’t an issue when it comes to your typical vacation plans, flying into the Jackson Hole Airport with the majestic Grand Tetons rising to meet you is an experience you should have at least once in your lifetime.
