But, when pressed, we have our list of spots we visit repeatedly. This secret nature trail in New Hampshire is special. Not just because it’s off-the-beaten path, but because it’s gorgeous.
The Sandwich Range Wilderness can be found about an hour south of Mount Washington, near Waterville Valley.

Fletcher’s Cascade Trail is a 3.2-mile out-and-back trail meandering through the woods past beautiful forest trees.

The trail is well-maintained, but it’s got enough roots and rocks to make it a little cumbersome to navigate. In the summer, most of it is shaded by tall trees, while winter offers its own beauty and solitude.

Much of the route follows Drake’s Brook, leading towards the most beautiful cascade-style waterfall. Along the way hikers will hear the rolling waters guiding them towards the falls.

Although the waterfall is small, the way the water cascades over the rock ledges is relaxing to watch. In the spring the water is likely to be flowing with snowmelt, while the summer and fall will bring a heavier flow after rain.
