If fairytale hikes in Texas get your adventurous heart pumping, you must add Caprock Nature Trail to your bucket list. This short-and-sweet stroll at the Fort Worth Nature Center is just a mile long, but it’s jam-packed with ancient limestone cliffs, natural stairs, lush vegetation, and expansive views. Every step you take is like turning a page in a storybook, and you’ll never want to come back to reality.

Tucked away inside the Fort Worth Nature Center, the Caprock Nature Trail is a lovely little stroll that showcases some truly incredible scenery.

At just over a mile long, the route is short and sweet as can be - yet in the brief amount of time it takes to complete the hike, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a fairytale.

Several sets of natural stairs ascend through lush woodland terrain, the trees dangling over the path with their gnarled branches and verdant foliage. The entire elevation gain is only around 100 feet, but some of the climbs are rather steep, so use caution.

In addition to the enchanting landscape, the very ground beneath your feet is a 120-million-year-old limestone outcrop. Look closely, and you’ll see ancient fossils embedded in the rock!
