Eisenhower Park has been a part of the Nassau County park system since 1944. Much of the land that makes up this large park was once part of the Salisbury Country Club. During the Great Depression, the club’s owners weren’t able to pay the taxes on the property so the county took it over.
Mohamed Rafi/Google Local After buying additional adjacent parcels, the park was created as Salisbury Park. The name was changed to Eisenhower Park in 1969 soon after the former president’s passing at age 79 earlier that year.
