Meadowlark Dairy was actually the very first certified dairy in California when it was founded in the early 1900s. In 1958, Holland immigrants Jannes and Janna Takens signed a 10-year lease on the business. It remains in the Takens family to this day.

Of course, it’s the ice cream that draws the crowds. Meadowlark’s ice cream cones are famous for a reason! They come in small, medium, or large in classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Specialty flavors like pumpkin, pineapple, and banana only come every once in a while…and they often sell out quickly.

This quaint hotel doubles as a restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and it serves up some of the best chowder you’ll ever eat. Make sure to order a Bloody Mary while you’re there; Little River Inn is famous for theirs. What are the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in NorCal?
