Don T Miss This Waterfall Swimming Hole This Summer

If you’re looking to go swimming at an unforgettable swimming hole with a waterfall this summer, then you need to hightail it on up, down, or over to Buttermilk Falls State Park just south of Ithaca. Ithaca is home to no fewer than four New York state parks, and this is one of them. All of them are beautiful and have waterfalls, but this one gives visitors the opportunity to swim at the base of a waterfall, too. You’ll love it. Read on to learn more.

Buttermilk Falls State Park is a 811-acre state park. The land it is on was donated to the state by Robert and Laura Treman in 1924. Today, it is quite popular for its many waterfalls and hiking trails.

The falls that the park are named for are one of 10 waterfalls in the park. The rocks that the water cascades down are primarily shale and sandstone. The waterfall is sometimes dry, but you can see water flowing down it during most times of the year.
