There’s a stunning boardwalk trail in South Carolina that travels through one of the prettiest cypress swamps in the South. This year, Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal celebrates 20 years of inspiring adventures among locals and visitors alike. For locals who’ve been in the area for a while, the inspiration includes the visual feast of what can happen when a group of people work to make a swamp on the edge of town known mostly for its long-active rookery into a wetland preserve worthy of daily strolls and hours spent enjoying the peaceful nature of this urban paradise.

At a mere seven acres, Cypress Wetlands feels much larger than its actual footprint.

Two trails tally up to a little over two miles that meander through the wetlands, an activity just about anyone can enjoy.
