When it comes to haunted history, Cleveland does not immediately stand out as one of the creepier cities in the United States. After all, despite a long history that goes back to 1796, our oldest standing building (the Dunham Tavern, which you can learn about here) was built in 1842. Our oldest standing cemetery, Erie Street Cemetery, was established in 1826. Fortunately for thrill seekers, it is neither age nor appearance that makes an area haunted. Thus, Cleveland has many notorious destinations, and you can actually tour some of them in September.

Beginning in September, you can tour the Cleveland Flats with Psychic Sonya.

Ghost Tours with Psychic Sonya/Facebook Sonya Horstman is well-known in the Cleveland area. She is a spiritualist, one who communicates with the dead in a religiously enlightened way. Her other talents include clairvoyancy and hand-trembling, a technique that allows her to read a person’s energy.

This creepy adventure must be experienced at least once in your lifetime.

Thursday Night Ghost Walks are open to ages 13 to adult.

RafaelTalkar/Pixabay Tickets are $20 per person and must be reserved ordered in advance. Tours begin on September 7 and continue every Thursday through November 2.

The tour begins at 7:30 at the Flat Iron Cafe, a destination that many locals report has its own ghosts.

Russ K./Flickr Arrive early and enjoy a delicious dinner with your host, Sonya. She’ll have ghost pictures to show you and, if you’re lucky, you might experience something for yourself! The building, which was constructed in the late 1800s, had its top two stories destroyed in a fire. Customers to the cafe, which opened in 1910, have reported disembodied screams, random piles of dimes seemingly assembling themselves, and general feelings of being watched.

If walking tours of the Flats don’t satisfy your inner ghost hunter, no worries! The fun is amplified during October.

Tim Evanson/Flickr Creepy tours continue into the Halloween season, delighting thrill-seekers. The Cleveland Ghost Bus Tours are $55 per person and will take place October 14, 21, and 28 from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own recording equipment to try to capture evidence of the paranormal.

You can also plan to spend Halloween with Psychic Sonya, too!

Spemone/Pexels Celebrate Halloween the grown-up way with an epic haunted tour that explores the best haunted bars in town and two distinguished local cemeteries. Tickets are $75 per person, which includes you bus seat and two drinks.

Sonya’s expertise makes her the perfect person to tour our creepy city with.

MiraDeShazer/Pixabay Psychic Sonya enjoys sharing her gift with the community. Not only does she offer tours, but she also offers private psychic parties and makes appearances at local events to read Tarot Cards. She is also a “Ghostbuster” (a spirit banisher) and an ordained minister, so she has both experience and knowledge to apply during tours.

Though beautiful, Cleveland by night is creepier than it seems.
