“Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high like a diamond in the sky…” So goes a popular children’s lullaby, familiar the world over. But how long has it been since you’ve paused to consider the stars? Can you even see the diamonds twinkling in the sky from the areas you frequent? You sure can if you head to Watoga State Park in West Virginia, one of the biggest and best dark sky parks in West Virginia – and in the world!
In the fall of 2021, Watoga State Park, Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park, and Cal Price State Forest received joint designation as an International Dark Sky Place.
