Hobbit House in Michigan September 30, 2022 Sarah M. Are there any other hobbit houses in Michigan? Did you know that there are 28 hobbit houses in Charlevoix, Michigan? Also known as “mushroom houses,” these are some of the Great Lakes State’s most incredible man-made attractions. The Mushroom Houses are located along Lake Michigan in beautiful Charlevoix. These stone structures are some of the most fascinating pieces of architecture in Michigan, featuring otherworldly charm and incredibly unique stylistic choices. In total, there are 28 Mushroom Houses to explore. Each house was designed by Charlevoix’s own Earl Young, who did most of his work during the early to mid-1900s. Tours are available through this delightfully quirky neighborhood, and, if you’re lucky, you might even have the chance to peruse the interior of a Mushroom House. The homes serve as vacation rentals, so interior access depends on occupancy. Of course, you can always rent a hobbit house in Michigan on VRBO and immerse yourself in the magic of these enchanting dwellings. Are there any other charming VRBO rentals in Michigan? You didn’t think the Hobbit House was the only impossibly charming VRBO rental in Michigan, did you? A getaway to Tioga Falls Cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan should be at the top of your bucket list. This secluded Michigan cabin features its own waterfall and is absolutely sublime. It is off the grid, but we’re sure you won’t mind when you see everything it offers guests – both inside and out. The cabin sits on a secluded, 80-acre property that has sole, private access to Tioga Falls. And since it is uniquely surrounded by the Tioga and Sturgeon Rivers, there is plenty of wading, swimming, canoeing, and fishing opportunities for brook and brown trout. The headlining falls are located just outside the screened-in porch. Inside, Tioga Falls Cabin has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to six adults. Bedding items are provided, but if you are particular about thread count, bring your own. For warmth, there is a wood-burning stove to keep you comfortable and toasty during your stay.
