Located about 20 miles south of Olympia, Bucoda is a tiny town of about 670 people. For most of the year, it’s quiet, calm, and rather mundane…but when October comes around, it really comes to life. Bucoda transforms into “Boocoda,” a Halloween town in Washington state you won’t want to miss out on.

Bucoda is known as The World’s Tiniest Town with the Biggest Halloween Spirit.

Boo-Coda / Facebook Settled in 1856 by Aaron Webster, Bucoda was originally known as Seatco from the Coastal Salish word “Tsi-at-co,” meaning “devil” or “ghost place.” It was also the site of Washington Territory’s first penitentiary, so its obsession for all things spooky is understandable.

From October 1 through October 31, this entire town transforms into a Halloween lover’s paradise.

One of the highlights of Boocoda is the Hearse Procession and Viewing.
