The Beauty Spot is a section of the Appalachian Trail that passes over Unaka Mountain. The grassy bald mountain top sits on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.

The drive up the mountain will take you off the pavement and lead you up a gravel road.
Curtesy of Sarah Dodge Depending on the season the road may have washouts or large rocks strewed across the path. We recommend a high clearance vehicle but for the most part, they maintain the road and you should have no trouble getting to the trailhead.
Once you are in the parking area it is a very short walk up a hill and you are at the Beauty Spot.

You are free to just walk the path a little way or just stand and marvel at the gorgeous overlook. We think you will agree, when you are up there it’s hard to take your eyes away.
