Every body of water in this state is beautiful, but the most relaxing lake in New Hampshire is something pretty special. Unlike Lake Winnipesaukee or Squam Lake, you won’t see this one all over social media after a long holiday weekend. This one, located in North Conway, is a bit less-visited which is just one reason we love it. Head to Echo Lake State Park to check it out!

Echo Lake is smaller than some of the other more well-known bodies of water in the state, but it offers the same fun things to do with less people. Kayaks and SUPs are a common sight here in the spring, summer and fall. And there’s a small beach that’s perfect for kids.

While the most relaxing lake in New Hampshire is a big draw to the park, there are also seven hiking trails to enjoy. A great one for those who want to stick close to the water is the Echo Lake Trail, a 0.8-mile loop that takes visitors around the lake.

This is also a great way to cool down on a hot day. And in the fall each trail is covered in foliage. A few of the trails also link to Cathedral Ledge State Park for more outdoor options.

If you’ll be enjoying the lake, remember to pack a lunch or some snacks to enjoy at the picnic tables right on the shore.

And try to stick around long enough to enjoy the lake when things are quiet and calm. It truly is a lovely sight.

Echo Lake State Park is beautiful year-round. While you probably won’t want to take a tip in the lake, the trails are perfect for wintertime fun. And, as an added bonus, they’ll be even more quiet and calm.

Echo Lake State Park is open year-round, but during the off-season it’s not likely to be staffed and facilities may not be open. There’s an entry fee to access parking and it’s best to reserve in advance on sunny weekends and holidays. You can do that on the state park website, where you can also keep up to date with changes and fees and conditions.
