Things To Do In West Virginia September 27, 2022 Sara Dager Are there any hidden gems in West Virginia? If you are searching for hidden gems in West Virginia, there are a few that you absolutely can’t miss. If you want a great meal at an unsuspecting spot, then definitely hit up Stefano’s. This fancy restaurant resides underneath a bowling alley funnily enough, but once you pass through the doors, you’ll know a fine meal is on its way. If you enjoy that fancy feeling, then another lovely choice for you would be sipping on samples at Lambert’s winery in Weston. The fairy tale vibes here are unmatched, except maybe by the crystal blue waters and wooden footbridges of the secluded Lake Sherwood. Which scenic hikes in West Virginia are best for the whole family? Hiking with the whole family can be a blast, but with little legs struggling to keep up and the extra items you need to carry, we think that keeping it easy is the best way to go. Luckily, there are lots of family-friendly hikes in West Virginia to help every member of the family get some fresh air and exercise. Along the 2.5-mile Marion County Rail Trail, you will encounter lots of history as well as the chance to walk THROUGH a mountain by way of a well-lit tunnel. With mostly flat terrain, this hike is very doable for most. Or for some of the best views, visit the appropriately named Grandview State Park and step out on the short paved trail from the parking lot to the overlook. What this trip lacks in steps it makes up for in beauty. Can I take any good road trips through West Virginia? There are many excellent road trips through West Virginia, and we’ve put together articles with maps outlining all of the stops as well as drive time for you! You can take our eight-stop haunted West Virginia road trip and feel a chill creep up your spine throughout the whole 14 hours of driving. You will visit derelict prisons, terrifying tunnels, and even an abandoned crumbling amusement park! Or, for a more cheery trip, gas up the car and get out on the road for this West Virginia waterfalls road trip. It is 11 hours of driving but you will see eight gorgeous waterfalls along the route. It seems like a great way to spend a weekend to us!
