Its unique name hearkens back to the mammoth fossils that have been found within the 525-acre site and the idea that these animals were here due to the salt lick deposits. There is a visitor’s center and a museum here as well as 4.5 miles of trails to explore. There is also a well-equipped campground on site complete with a swimming pool and playgrounds. Does Kentucky have any natural wonders? Not only does Kentucky contain a truly unique natural wonder, but that natural wonder is also a national park. Mammoth Cave National Park is located in south-central Kentucky. This UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve is 52,830 acres and features 18 miles of hiking trails as well as boating and horseback riding opportunities.
