There is a Museum of Surgery that will amaze those with academic (or macabre) minds. Open since 1954, this fascinating space offers over 10,000 square feet of galleries designed to educate visitors about the history of surgical arts. While fascinating, this one definitely isn’t for the faint of heart! Another fun Chicago museum for those with money on their minds is the Money Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Funnily enough, the money museum is absolutely free and here you can see one million dollars both in twenty-dollar bills and one-dollar bills! There are tons of exhibits on the history of cash and coin and when you leave, you can even take a bag of shredded money with you. What are the most fun things to do for free in Chicago? The windy city is such a fun place to discover and you’ll be happy to know that while a lot of the things to do here cost money, there are some fun and free things to do in Chicago that will lighten the load on your wallet. Usually a pricey adventure, the zoo in Chicago is totally free and the Lincoln Park Zoo is a fantastic place to visit for the whole family. The Chicago Chapel is another destination that you will have a hard time believing is free. An absolute treat for the eyes and ears, the stained glass alone in this massive chapel is enough to blow your mind. As we mentioned above, the Money Museum is free, but for a more traditional and still free museum experience, there is also the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Jane Addams Hull House Museum, and the Smart Museum of Art.
