And one of our favorite ways to experience the seasonal splendor of the Land of Enchantment is a good, old-fashioned road trip. We’ve combined several of the state’s most scenic drives into a trip that’ll give you an incredible leaf-peeping experience. This drive begins (or ends) in Santa Fe. It covers 296 miles and the drive time is about seven hours, excluding stops. Some notable points of interest along the way for peak fall foliage viewing are the Santa Fe National Forest Scenic Byway, El Santuario de Chimayó, Taos, Peñasco, and the Carson National Forest. What are some fun fall festivals in New Mexico? The fall festivals offered at the above pumpkin patches in New Mexico are your classic seasonal fetes, but there’s one annual festival in the Land of Enchantment that brings new meaning to, well, New Mexico’s nickname as the Land of Enchantment.
