  1. Long Point Trail - Summersville Lake

alltrails/Sara Townsend Hike a wonderful four-mile trail (two miles each direction) through mostly flat, forested terrain. Enjoy views of Summersville Lake along the way to the endpoint: Long Point, a huge rock cliff perfect for a picnic lunch. This is a wonderfully quick hike in West Virginia you’re sure to love! Long Point Trail, West Virginia 25840, USA

  1. Grandview Rim Trail to Turkey Spur - Beaver

alltrails/Michael Flavin Enjoy spectacular views along this 3.3-mile hike to the rim of the canyon. Despite several sets of stairs, it’s still an easy, breezy hike to the gorgeous overlook at the end. It’s also probably one of the best views in West Virginia. Beaver, WV, USA

  1. Table Rock - near Davis

alltrails/Jared Hartman Springtime blooms abound on this adventure to the top of Table Rock. The trail is a mere 2.3 miles long and the view at the end is worth every step. You’ll only encounter an elevation gain of 150 feet on this short and easy trek. Come see why this is one of our favorite hiking trails with wildflowers in West Virginia. Table Rock Trail, West Virginia 26287, USA

  1. Virgin Hemlock Loop - near Bruceton Mills

alltrails/Blake Belanger Wander through a storybook forest filled with beautiful green ferns and moss-covered boulders and trees. The 1.7-mile loop is easily accessible and has very little elevation gain, except for a set of stairs that some may find a bit challenging. Bring hiking sticks! This is one ultra scenic hike in West Virginia you won’t want to pass up on! Bruceton Mills, WV 26525, USA

  1. Island In The Sky Trail - Babcock State Park - Clifftop

alltrails/Hannah Marie Pop over behind the grist mill at Babcock to discover a short trail to a secret overlook at the top. The 0.2-mile trek is nearly all uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. This is a short and sweet hike in West Virginia you’re sure to love. Babcock State Park, 486 Babcock Rd, Clifftop, WV 25831, USA

  1. Devils Nose Trail - Hedgesville

alltrails/Chris Cutlip The 2.9-mile round trip hike to “devil’s nose” features a springtime bonus: it should be filled with wildflowers to admire as you wander through the forest. It’s best used from April to September. This springtime hike in West Virginia is one you’ll enjoy doing over and over. Devil’s Nose Jeep Trail, West Virginia 25427, USA

  1. Valley Falls Trail - Fairmont

alltrails/Eric Aldridge A large part of this 3.9-mile loop trail follows along the Tygart River and features a never-ending cascade waterfall that seems to go on forever. The trail is nice, but the best part is walking down to the falls to enjoy an up close view. This waterfall hike in West Virginia is second to none! Valley Falls, WV 26554, USA

Best Hikes in West Virginia April 04, 2022 Tori Jane What are some of the best easy hikes in West Virigina?   West Virginia is full of wonderful hiking trails – so many so that you could hike the rest of your life if you wanted (and if you could – what? We totally would). With almost 1,000 hikes to pick from, it can be a little tough to decide where to begin; well, why don’t we offer up a few (wonderful) suggestions? Some of our favorite, easy-peasy hikes in West Virginia include the amazing Lindy Point Trail, at Blackwater Falls State Park. It’s quick and easy, at just 0.8 miles long, and it offers up amazing views of Blackwater Canyon, among lots of other things. The Roadside Trail, inside Coopers Rock State Forest, is a three-mile trek to Coopers Rock Overlook; in total, there are more than 50 miles of trails within the forest to embark upon. Be sure to also add the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to your bucket list; it’s a 22-mile abandoned railroad trail that features an amazing 940-foot-long Rosendale Trestle bridge. Finally, the Grandview State Park Overlook Trail is paved from parking to the vista, and the vista is definitely a grand view of the amazing wilderness. Which easy hiking trails in West Virginia will you start with?  What are the most scenic hikes in West Virginia?   Oh, goodness, how are we supposed to choose? Every hike in West Virginia is one of the best hikes in West Virginia, but if we have to choose, we would say some of the most scenic hikes in West Virginia are the Long Point Trail, near Fayetteville, which is 1.6 miles long, and rated as moderately difficult. It features a gorgeous panoramic view of the New River Gorge Bridge, and is worth every foot of the way. The Harpers Ferry National Historic Park is another great one, in general. It features more than 20 miles of scenic trails weaving all over it, as well as awe-inspiring riverside and mountain views. Finally, the Endless Wall Trail in Lansing is 2.7 miles long, and also features some amazing views of Diamond Point. Those are some of our favorites to start with – the possibilities are endless.
