Discovering Kentucky September 29, 2022 Sara Dager What are the best road trips through Kentucky?  If you are on the hunt for good road trips in Kentucky, you’ve landed at the right spot! Only In Your State prides itself on designing the best possible road trips that show you all the best of what our fair state has to offer. Fans of all things creepy will love our haunted Kentucky road trip. With a little over nine hours of drive time, it’s best to break this trip up over a few days, but it’s more than worth the time. From a haunted cave system to a scary B&B, all types of haunting enthusiasts will be pleased. For something a little cheerier, you will likely love the road trip that shows you all the natural wonders in Kentucky. It takes you to ten spots including underground caves, an awe-inspiring land bridge, and a charming waterfall. Another fun trip, somewhere between creepy and gorgeous, is the six-stop abandoned places in Kentucky road trip that we’ve put together. This trip will take you to abandoned hospitals, a ghost town, and even a ghost ship! Does Kentucky have any good spots for day trips?  There are so many great little day trips in Kentucky! The whole family will have a blast exploring Kentucky Kingdom, a massive amusement park with its own water park and a ton of fun rides and events for the whole family. You may not even see everything in a day, but you can get a lot done. This is a great trip for thrill seekers, but maybe you’re looking for a more low-key way to spend the day. A stroll through the Kentucky Railway Museum is a great choice for a relaxing day. You can take a look at historical trains in the midst of being restored to their full glory, and learn a ton about Kentucky’s intriguing railway history here. And, of course, it is tough for anyone not to enjoy a day at the massive Newport Aquarium or Louisville Zoo. Watching animals go about their daily business is such a nice break from our own daily business. Are there any hidden gems to discover in Kentucky?  People who are looking for big fun without big crowds will absolutely love the Bluegrass state. There are so many hidden gems in Kentucky that you will fall for in an instant. Princess Falls in McCreary country is one awesome choice, an easy three-mile loop will take you along a charming woodland path to some lovely falls that are going to be less packed than the more known waterfalls in the area. Or, as mentioned above, Kentucky is home to a ghost ship in Petersburg. This ship is frozen in time, and while many may know of it, you do have to hunt a bit to find it amongst the brush, so it’s likely you will have this spot to yourself. One of our favorite hidden gems is the impressive (if slightly silly) Kentucky’s Stonehenge. This strange art piece is a little less mystifying than the Stonehenge we all know, but it is still quite fun to admire!
