And if you love water views and wildlife, make your way to Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke for a trail that goes right between two sides of the lovely body of water. The reservoir is home to lots of different animals, from geese to rabbits, so you’ll get to see plenty of sweet native residents. What are the most beautiful lakes in Massachusetts? The most beautiful lakes in Massachusetts are some of the best places to go to spend an afternoon of hiking, bird watching, and just enjoying nature. Laurel Lake in Erving State Forest is a perfect place to find clean and clear water and a forest that looks straight out of a storybook. Long Pond in Harwich is another excellent choice, particularly if you like sandy beaches and riding your bike. There is a paved path here so you can take a nice easy walk or ride.
