Rhode Island is one of the safest states in the nation, according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report. However, some towns are safer than others. Roadsnacks.com compiled a list of the 10 most dangerous towns Rhode Island. It only included towns with populations of 5,000 or more people, and used data from the FBI Uniform Crime Report to look at the number of violent crimes and property crimes in each place.
- Providence
Bullshark44/Wikimedia Rhode Island’s largest city (and the third largest in New England) has the highest number of property crimes in the state and the second highest number of violent crimes. If you live in Providence, you have a 1 in 22 chance of being the victim of property crime.
- Central Falls
Sean Central Falls holds the distinction of the town with the highest rate of violent crime in Rhode Island. Violent crime includes rape, aggravated assault, robberies and murder. Central Falls’ rate of violent crime increase 10 percent between 2011 and 2013.
- Newport
Artur Staszewski/flickr Residents in Newport have a 1 in 24 chance of being the victim of a property crime, and the city is second in Rhode Island for those types of crimes. However, the rate of property crimes dropped 10 percent since 2011.
- Woonsocket

- Pawtucket

- Warren

- Cranston

- Warwick

- West Warwick
